Waiting Isn't a Waste

ree

Often in motherhood we’re waiting-waiting to get pregnant, waiting to meet that bundle of joy (I went to and through my due date 3/3 times and absolutely wish I had had this book back in my gestating days), waiting for them to sleep through the night, for this phase to pass, for them to meet the next milestone or return to the Lord. Parenting is filled with waiting, and I hope these summary points encourage you! This book by @vroegopmark was the sweetest pep talk to my weary waiting heart and I pray it is a gift to you as well!

1-Waiting on God is living on what I know to be true about God when

I don’t know what’s true about my life.

2-Underneath our disdain for waiting is our desire for control.

3-”The tension you feel as you try to simultaneously hope in heaven while living wholeheartedly in this life isn’t necessarily an indicator of sinful discontentment. It may simply be evidence that you are a citizen of heaven living on earth.”-Seasons of Waiting

4-God provides what we need on His timeline. He gives daily bread and daily GRACE.

5-God designed waiting in the world and in redemption to remind us that HE is central.

6-Rather than learning to wait on God, we try to think our way out of our limitations.

7-Waiting Biblically is seeing seasons of delay as opportunities to hope in God, not our circumstances.

8-Perseverance is not the result of our determination. It is a direct result of God’s faithfulness. Mapping God’s faithfulness fuels waiting patiently.

9-Patient waiting isn’t fatalistic or pessimistic. It’s the hopeful commitment to seek God’s help creatively and faithfully while staying put.
