1-What lice is to parents of elementary students, technology is to parents of middle schoolers.
2-Overexposure to technology is seen as a causative factor in anxiety and
depression.
3-There are four critical factors necessary for development: movement, touch, human connection and exposure to nature.
4-You are the gatekeeper.
5-They get the privilege, we set the BOUNDARY-utilize vigilance through apps and monitoring systems.
6-Screens only in common areas.
7-Start small with exposures and give them freedom as they earn it.
8-Model screen boundaries and sabbath screens together. (more is caught than taught)
9-Leverage it for good: as a reward, CONSEQUENCE or teaching tool.
10-Be mindful of places where our kids are competing with technology for parental attention.
